LOPEZ (Antonio). "Régine Desforges". (circa 1970). Instamatic Kodak. Set of 9 photos mounted in a single frame, titled on the lower left corner, mounted under a white mat and wooden frame. Antonio Lopez (1943-1987) was a Puerto Rican fashion illustrator. During his short career, he worked for numerous fashion publications and magazines, and is recognized as a major illustrator of the second half of the XXᵉ century. When one mentions Antonio Lopez, the image of a disco ball immediately springs to mind. The fashion illustrator and photographer was a mythical figure of New York nightlife from the 60s to the 80s. His friends included Bill Cunningham, Bianca Jagger and Grace Jones. He rubbed shoulders with all the creative, avant-garde fauna of the time. But not just to polish up the dance floors. Antonio Lopez found in this sparkling community an infinite source of inspiration for his work. The man of a thousand ideas never ceased to explore a certain aestheticism with his pencil or behind the lens.
