[DELVAUX, GIRON, SALKIN] - CROKAERT (P.). Brialmont. Éloge et mémoires. Brux, A. Lesigne, 1925, large 4°, modern binding in blue half-percaline with corners, cover illustrated with a print by Marcel Wolfers and spine preserved, uncut. First edition illustrated with numerous in-text reproductions based on old documents or by Paul Delvaux, Émile Salkin and Robert Giron. 1/25 copies of the first edition on Japon impérial, one of twenty numbered in Roman numerals, containing a copper-engraved portrait, 3 states of hors texte, 2 in color and 1 in black, and an original watercolor; ours is a watercolor by Émile Salkin, entitled "Prise du port de Barchon par les Prussiens (8 août 1914)" (reprint p. 263). Henri-Alexis Brialmont (1821-1903), was a Belgian soldier, architect and politician. He is famous for the design and construction of the Shinkakasa fort and the fortified towns of Antwerp, Liège and Namur. A fine copy.
