[KUPKA, MUCHA, ...] - "Cocorico". Artistic, literary and hum - Lot 21
[KUPKA, MUCHA, ...] - "Cocorico". Artistic, literary and humorous bi-monthly magazine. From n° 1 to n° 60. N° 1 (1st year), N° 2-24 (2nd year), N° 25-44 (3rd year), N° 45-56 (4th year), N° 57-60 (5th year). Paris, December 31, 1898 - March 1, 1902, 60 fasc. 4°, stapled. In a single black cloth slipcase, illustrated with the cover in red, black and gold by Steinlen. First edition. Bi-monthly satirical magazine created by Paul Boutigny (1854-1929). A particular feature of the publication was its support for Art Nouveau. Paul Émile Boutigny, a French military painter, created the art magazine "Cocorico" in 1898. He called on the greatest artists available and put every conceivable lithographic technique at their disposal. This produced artistic rarities and sometimes unusual masterpieces. The content, however, was not neglected, and featured previously unpublished works, often reproduced with the same attention to quality. Covers illustrated by Mucha, Steinlen, Jossot, Kupka and many others. A rare, almost complete collection (only the last 3 issues are missing).
