[PLOMTEUX, RENER, FRANCK] "Réalité 2". S.l.n.d. [1950], larg - Lot 821
[PLOMTEUX, RENER, FRANCK] "Réalité 2". S.l.n.d. [1950], large 8° agenda booklet, bound with string, top cover illustrated with an original full-page composition. Text by L. Bourgaux. Illustrations by Paul Franck, Léna Karji [Hélène Bury], Antoine Plomteux and Rener [René Plomteux]. First edition without mention of print run (ex. numbered 35 at the end of the volume). Hand-crafted edition including 6 original engravings by Paul Franck (2), Antoine Plomteux (2), and Rener (2), all signed in pencil. Enriched with a letter from Paul Franck. In 1950, in Liège, Fernand Graindorge gave a chance to the "Réalité-Cobra" group, the first in Belgium to defend and disseminate abstract art. A year later, in 1951, Paul Franck founded the "Réalité 2" group, followed by "Origine" with Léna Karji, Rener and Antoine Plomteux. Coming from the "Réalité-Cobra" group, Paul Franck felt the relationship between Cobra and the first tendency of the Réalité group to be an antinomy, which prompted him to split, first creating the "Réalité 2" group, which never exhibited, and then the "Origine" group, which manifested itself twice, in 1951 and 1952, within the APIAW [Association pour le Progrès Intellectuel et Artistique de la Wallonie]. A fine and rare copy.
