MALET (Léo). ...howls to life. Drawings by André Masson. P., Editions Surréalistes, 1940, 8° booklet, br. First edition limited to 150 copies. 1/148 vellum biblio. Precious copy by Noël Arnaud, with his bookplate and an autograph message: "to Noël Arnaud, / in this Year IV of Crime, this poem written / at the dawn of - and in opposition to - the Bloody Cochery, of which you / would ask - and it's all to your / honor whatever the tricolor / assholes think - the immediate cessation / Fraternally / Léo Malet / 7/43". Enclosed is an original pencil drawing by Léo Malet, signed and pasted, the prière d'insérer and the extremely rare trailer on pink paper, "Le presbytère n'a rien perdu de son charme ni le jardin de son éclat. Miss Stangerson", an allusion to the enigmatic phrase from Gaston Leroux's Mystery of the Yellow Room. A very fine copy.
