DERAIN (André). Lettres à Vlaminck. P., Flammarion, 1955, in-12, 233 p., br. First edition. Enclosed is an autograph letter signed by Derain (1 folio in-12, 2 p.) to Gustave Coquiot, French writer, playwright and art critic, 1865-1926: "Dis-moi à quel titre Vlaminck est libéré". He gives confidential details on automobile artillery. He is in Belfort, "Rien de nouveau (...) les emmerdements habituels". On the back: "Derain André / Class 1900 armed service / Recruitment Versailles / Regimental number 1186 / Length of stay at the front 29 months without interruption". Also included are 2 portraits of Derain on loose-leaf, the first by Jean Oberlé (full-length portrait in Indian ink, signed, qqs creases), and the second by André Collot (portrait in ballpoint pen).
