First edition of this collective text signed by Breton, Éluard, Ernst, Man Ray, Tanguy, etc., which is the definitive act of rupture between the Surrealists and the French Communist Party. Mint condition / "Cause. Rupture inaugurale". Declaration adopted on June 12, 1947 by the group in France to define its prejudicial attitude to all partisan politics. P., Editions Surréalistes, 1947, 8° booklet, 18-[2] p., br. (cover discharge). First edition illustrated with a photographic reproduction of a window in the Marquis de Sade's château, after Man Ray, placed in the frontispiece. Declaration by the Cause group, part of the Surrealist group. This publication ends with an advertising leaflet printed on coated paper, which begins with the words: "Mettez la vie en CAUSE" ("Put life in CAUSE"). A fine copy / Ens. 2 vol.
