Original deluxe edition with full-page illustrations of all the playmates since 1953, 625 nude color photographs. Playboy was founded in 1953 by Hugh Hefner in Chicago. The first issue appeared on December 1, 1953, with Marilyn Monroe on the cover. It was an immediate success. Within a few weeks, the title sold over 50,000 copies.
