MANDELBAUM (Stéphane). Untitled. Black ballpoint pen drawing, matted and mounted in a wooden frame. Frame size: 47 x 37 cm; subject: 29.5 x 21 cm. This drawing belongs to the series of what the painter called "Scraboutchas". Gifted, a "bad boy", an instinctive and magnificent draftsman, a painter close to Bacon, Soutine and Schiele, Stéphane Mandelbaum (1961-1986) was murdered at the age of 25 in an obscure case of art trafficking. After the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Musée juif de Belgique will present a retrospective of the artist's work in 2019.
