Printed contemporary bookplate of brother Gilbert Van Haelen, lector and prior of the abbey of Ninove. Jacobus Arminius (1560-1609), Latinized name of Jakob Hermanszoon, Dutch theologian of the Protestant Reformation period, whose views are the basis of Arminianism and the Dutch Remonstrant movement. He was professor of theology at the University of Leiden from 1603 and wrote numerous theological works and treatises. Kasper Brandt (1653-1696), was a remonstrant preacher, the last one in Amsterdam.
