                        DUGÈS (Ant.). A treatise on the comparative physiology of man and animals. Montpellier, Louis Castel ; Paris, Baillière..., 1838, 3 vol. 8°, frontispiece, XVIII-526 p., 6 plates ; X-636 p., 12 plates, and portrait, VIII-491 p., midnight blue half calf of the period, spine with decorated nerves (some snags, freckles). Good copy. Antoine Dugès (1797-1838) is a French physician and naturalist. Specialized for a long time in obstetrics, he received the chair of childbirth at the Faculty of Medicine of Montpellier, then undergoing reorganization. In 1826, he published a "Manuel d'obstétrique" (Obstetrics Manual), which was reissued several times. Parallel to his duties as a doctor, he devoted himself to natural history and in 1838 he published a "Traité de physiologie comparée" (Treatise on Comparative Physiology). In particular, he studied batrachians and mites.
