La Paysane pervertie, or Les Dangers de la ville. Printed in La Haie and found in Paris, Chés la Dame Veuve Duchesne [t. 1 and 3] or Chés les Libraires indicated in Frontispice of Part I [t. 2 and 4], 1784 (4 vol. 344 p., 2 frontispices and 10 plates; 320 (220 by mistake), 2 frontispices and 4 plates; 320 p., 2 frontispices and 7 plates; 344-8-LXXII p., 2 frontispices and 11 plates: either for the 4 vols. 40 plates including 8 frontispieces). Set of 2 works in 8 volumes in-12 bound in hazelnut half calf, spine gilt on the ribs, gilt fillet on the ribs, gilt motifs on the boxes surrounded by a double gilt fillet, brick and tomaison grège title pieces, marbled edges. Fine binding signed " Petit succ. de Simier " (Charles Petit succeeded Simier in 1848). Nice copy. First complete collective edition of the dangers of the city, bringing together the first illustrated edition of the "Paysan perverti" and the first edition (?), also illustrated, of the "Paysanne pervertie". Restif mentions this edition of Le Paysan on the back of the title of the Figures of the Perverted Peasant in the following terms: "It was felt it was necessary, when engraving the Figures, to refer to the most recent and least incorrect edition of the four that appeared. Rives- Child explains part of Restif's enthusiasm by the fact that it was certainly he himself who published it and had the Figures engraved.
