Polydore Virgil (1470-1555) is an Italian writer and historian, considered the renovator of historical studies in England. The "De rerum inventoribus libri VIII" was published in 1499; this last work was translated into French under the title "Les Inventeurs des choses". It is a veritable encyclopedia in which the author develops numerous anecdotes on science, astrology, music, divination, games and sports, religion, heresies. Edition redacted after its inclusion in the Index. Rare Dutch translation.
