PICASSO (Pablo). *Diurnes*. A series of 12 loose prints (out of a total of 30) created using phototype and stencil techniques, taken from Jacques Prévert’s portfolio *Diurnes* featuring photographs by André Villers. Paris, Berggruen, 1962, dimensions: (12 x) 29 x 38 cm (each plate is numbered on the reverse). In 1953, Pablo Picasso settled in Vallauris. It was during this extended stay that he met the photographer André Villers. A close collaboration then developed between the 72-year-old artist and the 23-year-old photographer, giving rise to a deep friendship. Fascinated by the richness of their surroundings in Provence, Picasso and Villers embarked on an intense creative process that would culminate in the creation of the “Diurnes” series.
