An illustrated edition featuring sixteen color etchings by Luc Lafnet. Paris, Georges Briffaut, “Dames galantes,” 1932, large 8°, softcover with replaced cover (cover slightly discolored with a trace of a diagonal crease). Limited edition of 541 copies, no. 1/500, printed on Rives vellum with a color plate catalog. A very beautiful illustration by the Liège artist Luc Lafnet based on a famous text by Restif, a great foot fetishist. It was Charles de Brosses who first used the term “fetishism” (1760) in a work titled *Du culte des Dieux fétiches* (On the Worship of Fetish Gods), in which we read: “The worship of certain earthly and material objects called fetishes (...) and which, for this reason, I shall call fetishism.” / RIVES CHILDS (J.). Restif de la Bretonne. Testimonies and Judgments. Bibliography. Paris, published at the author’s expense, 1949, large 8°, 367 pp., softcover, replaced cover./ Set of 2 vols.
