BONARGENT.—SOLLERS (Philippe). *The Writer and Life*. [Excer - Lot 83
BONARGENT.—SOLLERS (Philippe). *The Writer and Life*. [Excerpts by] René Bonargent. [Châteauroux, Indifférences, 1996, in-12, loose-leaf, printed cover, without slipcase]. This short essay explores the relationship between a writer’s work and his personal life. “The writer is not a pure spirit; he is not born just anywhere. His family history is of the utmost importance, as are the events unfolding around him”. Accompanied by a collection of cutouts that “resonate” with this dynamic interplay between Living and Writing—repeated, inverted, and displayed as a possible distillation of this brilliant and irrefutable demonstration [excerpt from the Bonargent catalog]. This text, excerpted from *La Guerre du goût*, is illustrated by René Bonargent with seven original, off-text compositions consisting of the letters of the words “live” and “write,” cut out in large capital letters in a different order. A single edition limited to 165 numbered copies on vellum, signed by the author and the artist. Like-new condition.
