ANTONY (Maurice). "James Ensor Standing on the Balcony of th - Lot 800
ANTONY (Maurice). "James Ensor Standing on the Balcony of the Old Casino in Ostend Overlooking the Beach" (1926). Silver print in postcard form, titled, signed, numbered 10826-5 in lower left corner. Size: 9 x 13.5 cm (slight trace of diagonal fold). A native of Ypres and nephew of Constant Permeke, Maurice Antony became famous for his photos of the Yser front when, shortly after the First World War, he settled permanently in Ostend, where Ensor, Permeke, Spilliaert and other artists lived. It was always through photography that Antony came into contact with the Ostend intelligentsia and artistic world to which James Ensor belonged.
