DAENENS (Albert). 20 linos pamphlétaires. Brux, Éditions du - Lot 617
DAENENS (Albert). 20 linos pamphlétaires. Brux, Éditions du Repos bien mérité, 1929, folio (40 x 28 cm), leaves, soft wine-red paper folder with title label on upper cover (spine of folder split, rare marg. russeting, plate 10 browned and stained at lower corner). Introductory text by René Baert, translated by Gaston Burssens. First edition printed on Featherweight paper. Copy no. 17 from an unspecified edition, signed by the artist. Albert Daenens (Brussels, 1883-1952) produced woodcuts and linos whose themes reflected his political and social commitment. Influenced by Masereel, he castigated the bourgeoisie, militarism and war. During the 1920-1923 period, he experimented with abstract compositions that translated his emotions into elegant rhythms. Rare.
