BROODTHAERS (Marcel). Reunion of 2 rare open letters, in a s - Lot 581
BROODTHAERS (Marcel). Reunion of 2 rare open letters, in a single envelope, stamped from Düsseldorf. The first is a 2-sheet letter, printed in black, dated "Cologne, oct. 18...", addressed to "Mon cher Wagner": "I have just put the last note to the Grand Duchess of Gérolstein. How far I am from Tristan and Isolde (...). King Ludwig II spurns Hans from his castles. His majesty prefers you to this specialist in flute compositions. I understand, it's an artistic choice (...)". He signs his missive "Offenbach" and adds a postscript monogrammed M.B. The second letter, entitled "Paris - Dusseldorf - Amsterdam" (on the occasion of the opening of an exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum, Oct. 5, 1972, in which I am participating with artists from Düsseldorf), is addressed to "Mon cher Beuys", dated Sept. 25, 72 "It's been a long time since I wrote you an open letter (...)". Uncommon.
