P., NRF, 1952, 1954, 1 vol. in-12 and 1 vol. 8°, black half-maroquin, boards composed of linear figures painted in green and brown on a black background extending in a striated manner over the boards and covered with a Plexiglas plate, smooth spine titled in gold, lemon-yellow and crushed raspberry paper endpapers, purple head, covers and spine cons. in signed slipcase (edges of slipcase rubbed) (binding signed Mercher, 1958). Ex-libris of Raoul Simonson. First editions. 1/45 ex. de tête num. sur Hollande van Gelder and among these one of thirty-five numbered à la suite for the first volume, and one of five hors commerce for the second (ex. marked D). Enriched copy with an autograph letter signed at the head of the first volume: "Mon vieux / Excuse moi. I didn't go up / I was sick to death. Malaria / and fatigue - the bones are knackering / There's too much trouble - and not / enough fun -, come down sometime / if you can - I'll try to come back up / on Sunday, if I'm better. / Think of the mattress if you can... / My best friendship to all and / to you well [?] / Louis Ferdinand". Enriched with a portrait of the author engraved by Gen Paul, justified "épreuve d'artiste" and signed in pencil. A very fine copy in a remarkable binding by Mercher.
