[AKARI Lamps - Japanische Akari Lampen. Catalog. Zurich, Hans Eleger (Brux., Van Brande), 1976, square in-12 booklet, br. A leaflet presenting Akari lamps is included. In 1951, Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988) conceived these light sculptures named Akari, a Japanese term expressing the idea of clarity and lightness. During a trip to Japan, he discovered Gifu, renowned for its manufacture of paper parasols and lanterns. The manufacture of this series of over 100 models (table lamps, floor lamps and ceiling lights) was therefore set up in this town. Unusual.
