[Original engravings by Corot, Morisot, etc. - "La Gazette des Beaux-Arts". Volumes 18 to 25 (1st period) - Volumes 1 to 16 (2nd period) - Volumes 31 to 40 (3rd period) - Volumes 1 to 8 (4th period) + 1 table volume (years 1864 to 1868). Paris, 1865-1912, 43 vols. 4°, green half-chagrin with corners, spines with 5 threaded bands, ornate caissons, gilt title, tomes and year, gilt head, marbled endpapers, covers (spines of last 18 vols. faded, bindings rubbed, scattered russets). First edition. Important collection covering the years 1865 to 1870, 1872 to 1877, and 1904 to 1912. "La Gazette des Beaux-Arts was founded by Charles Blanc in 1859. Published with the assistance of the most eminent critics from all countries, it embraces the retrospective and contemporary study of all manifestations of art and curiosity (Architecture, Painting, Engraving, Decorative Arts). It appears in monthly issues, illustrated with numerous plates outside the text, including lithographs and engravings produced especially for the magazine. Several dozen interpretative etchings and/or original engravings printed on wove or laid paper, some on Chine appliqué, by : Albert Besnard, Boucher, Edgar Chahine, John Constable, Corot, Charles Cottet, Courbet, Eugène Delacroix, Maurice Denis, Fragonard, Clarence Gagnon, Gericault, Goya, Ingres, Carl Larsson, Le Sidaner, J.-Fr. Millet, Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot, Joseph Pennell, John Sloan, Constant Troyon, Turner, and many others. Also includes a silver print by Harrison. A very fine set.
