Size of support and subject: (3 x) 30 x 25 cm (trace of fold at upper right corner of one of the gouaches). Swiss violinist and composer, friend of Kandinsky, Cocteau and Picasso, member of the Groupe Moderne d'Art de Liège, Arthur Pétronio (1897-1983) was introduced to painting by French painter Henri Le Fauconnier. From 1920, he organized Dada evenings in Amsterdam. Influenced by the Italian Futurist movement, he developed the half-musical, half-poetic compositions he called Verbophonie. A versatile artist, he left his mark on the literary and musical avant-garde.
