ALVAREZ-BRAVO (Lola). "Portrait de jeune fille" (ca. 1940). Reunion of 4 silver prints, mounted on cardboard, all signed in pencil. Media size: (4 x) 35.5 x 28 cm; subject size: (4 x) 24 x 18.5 cm. The photos are also dedicated by a certain Annette to her family. Lola Álvarez Bravo (1907-1993) was a Mexican photographer. She produced innovative photomontages, images of her changing country and portraits of artist friends such as Frida Kahlo. In 1925, she married her childhood friend Manuel Álvarez Bravo. In 1954, she organized the first Mexican exhibition of Frida Kahlo, the only one of her lifetime. After retiring in 1971 from the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura, she continued to take photographs until she went blind at the age of 79./ BUCOVICH (Mario von). "Portrait of a Man" (1940). Vintage silver print, mounted on greige paper, signed in pencil. Size of base: 35 x 28 cm; subject: 24.8 x 18.3 cm. Mario (von) Bucovich was an Austrian-born photographer (1884-1947). He settled in Berlin, where he took over Karl Schenker's photo studio. He moved to New York in the 1930s, before moving to Mexico in the early 1940s. He died in a traffic accident in Mexico City on November 30, 1947 / 5-piece set.
