MARINETTI (F.T.). "A tumultuous assembly" (digital sensibili - Lot 676
MARINETTI (F.T.). "A tumultuous assembly" (digital sensibility). Typography printed in black on yellow paper. PROVA" stamp on spine. 1 leaf, 30 x 39 cm (1 small angular lack, slight discharge on right edge). Published in Milan in 1919 in "Les Mots en liberté futuristes", this is an example of tavole parolibere (free-word pictures). In this shot, the subject is Italy's victory in the First World War. The Futurists celebrated the potential of war, drawing analogies between weapons and Futurist poetry. Marinetti combined innovative typography to create a dynamic composition depicting a festive crowd. This proof was printed by "De Distel" in Antwerp by Em. Mayens, who also printed "Het Overzicht". This magazine played an essential role in bringing modern Belgian artistic communities closer to the international art scene. "Het Overzicht" was printed at "De Distel", which was both an artists' studio and the salon of the avant-garde group "Kring Moderne Kunst". A rare and good copy.
