Illustrated edition by Edouard Chimot, including twelve original etchings engraved by the artist and twenty-one woodcut ornaments after his drawings by J.-P. Sauget. Paris, L'Édition, "Le Livre du Bibliophile", 1920, 4°, full crushed raspberry jansenist morocco, 4 ribbed spine, gilt author, title and illustrator, gilt edges, double gilt fillet on the edges, ochre morocco linings decorated with smoke scrolls mosaicked in greige, violet and mauve morocco set with emerald, pink and mauve morocco listels, toned brocaded cloth endpapers, covers. (small restored tear) and spine cons, raspberry half-maroquin flap folder with bands, lined slipcase (edges of slipcase rubbed) (binding signed H[enri] Blanchetière, 1929). Ex-libris of Romain Roels. Copy enriched with a double mailing: "to Madame Pierre Boucard / with the most sympathetic thoughts of / Maurice Magre", and "for Madame Pierre Boucard, these Parisian opium evenings / full of sweetness and pleasure, with my great sympathies / Chimot". Edition printed at 514 copies, numbered 1/55 copies from the first edition, one of twelve on Japon Antique, containing 4 states of the etchings, states of the woodcuts, a separate print of the finished woodcuts and an original color drawing by the artist. A fine copy with a rejected plate for the 7th hors-texte.
