CHAPRONT.- BAUDELAIRE (Charles). Les Paradis artificiels (Opium and hashish). Paris, Société des Médecins bibliophiles, 1923 (1921 on title), 8°, 243 p., leaves, green covers (spine browned and frayed at head and tail, rare pale russets). Illustrations by Henry Chapront. Copy and bookplate of Dr. Ernest Desnos, French physician and bibliophile (1853-1925). Limited edition of 150 numbered copies on Montval laid paper, accompanied by a suite of 21 color proofs on China paper, including a facsimile of a portrait of Baudelaire. Henry Chapront (1876-1965) was a French symbolist painter, engraver, aquafortist and illustrator. He is best known for his original illustrations for Remy de Gourmont's "Oraisons mauvaises" and J.K. Huysmans' "Là-bas".
