New York, Éditions de la Maison française, 1942, large 8°, full grey flannel box bradel boards, smooth spine titled in gold with place and date in tail, first board decorated in lower right corner with a small vertical rectangular listel of vermilion lizard, second board decorated with three lizard scrolls of different sizes, mouse-gray Japon paper lining and endpapers embellished with fine vertical sticks tinted dark gray at the bottom of the first counterplate and in the center of the second, covers and spine cons. and spine cons, edged slipcase (2 small rubs on spine) (binding signed C. Gevaert). Ex-libris Jacques Culot. Original edition of 526 numbered copies. 1/450 on Corsican paper, 4th paper after one H.C. on Vellum Handmade, 25 H.C. on Strathmore and 50 on Texte paper. Genuine first edition (in gray cover with title in red letters) published in the United States during the Occupation on the same date of February 20, 1942 as the American edition. A very fine copy.
