DUMAS Fils (Alexandre). Un père prodigue. Paris, Charlieu, 1 - Lot 22
DUMAS Fils (Alexandre). Un père prodigue. Paris, Charlieu, 1859, in-12, full wine-leather morocco, spine titled in gold with 5 nerves, gilt edges, lining bordered and framed with 7 gilt fillets, marbled endpapers, cover and spine cons. (spine slightly faded, a few small rubs) (binding signed Marius Michel). Bookplate of Jean Meyer, actor and stage director. First edition enriched with an autograph letter signed by Frédéric-Alexandre Febvre, member of the Comédie française from 1866 to 1894, addressed to Gaston Calmette at Le Figaro (he was its director from 1902 until his death in 1914). "From Moscow: The dramatic week that Febvre of the Théâtre français offered us was very attractive, and for him it was a series of well-deserved ovations. His greatest success was in "Père Prodigue" and "Demi-Monde", plays in which he was very well supported by the artists around him. All the newspapers are full of praise for the admirable performance and talent of this eminent actor. Follows a note addressed to Calmette: "My dear Calmette, With my best wishes for the end of the year and my affectionate memories"'. A fine copy.
