[RAPIN] - "La Tendance populaire surréaliste". Collection of - Lot 819
[RAPIN] - "La Tendance populaire surréaliste". Collection of 31 leaflets published by Maurice Rapin. Paris, M. Rapin, November 20, 1957 to January 2, 1963, 31 leaflets, 21 x 9.5 cm, on different-colored paper. First edition. These leaflets are presented in an elephant paper slipcase, and are accompanied by various documents: "La Tête dressée" (a single issue published in February 1958 with an original 3-part Indian ink drawing dedicated to Jacques Wergifosse, a friend of Magritte). Also includes various leaflets and photographs of paintings. Founded in 1957, "Tendance Populaire Surréaliste" ceased to exist in 1978, becoming "La figuration critique". The designation "Tendance Populaire Surréaliste" expressly refers to the thesis of the Tendances Précisées (Precised Tendencies) upheld on July 17, 1903 by Lenin, whose ascendancy in 1957 was still very strong among Surrealists. A fine set.
