FLOCON (Albert) and BARRE (André). La Perspective curviligne - Lot 699
FLOCON (Albert) and BARRE (André). La Perspective curviligne. From visual space to constructed image. 78 illustrations in text by the authors. Paris, Flammarion, 1968, 8°, 220 p., br. (light scattered foxing on a few pages). First edition. 1/35 ex. num. sur vélin d'Arches, the only large paper, and among these one of twenty numbered from 1 to 20, for Lucien Scheler, including an original burin by Albert Flocon. Enriched with a fine full-page mailing, featuring a drawing on the false-title (the château "Plaisir" and its park in Yvelines), signed by Albert Flocon. Printmaker and print historian Albert Flocon (Berlin, 1909 - Paris, 1994) studied at the Bauhaus under Josef Albers. He then devoted himself to the performing arts (dance and theater) with Oskar Schlemmer until 1930. Fleeing Nazism and attacks on degenerate art, he emigrated to France, settling permanently in Paris in 1945. Fascinated by the relationship between art and geometry, both his works and his writings helped renew the study of perspective, particularly curvilinear perspective.
