ALQUIN (Nicolas). Une pincée d'Alquin. Suite of 7 Indian ink drawings, mounted on Auvergne paper from Moulins Richard de Bas, all signed, most dated (1979), the first titled "La Chienne". S.l., [L'Auteur], (1979), 4° agenda, leaves, mauve lined cover with ink title-piece (drawings detached from their support, Scotch discharge, few russets). Unique autographed copy: "Une pincée pour / Jacques Duez [Belgian pedagogue and video artist, 1943-2010], d'après / "La Chienne" by Jean Renoir". "La Chienne" is a French film directed by Jean Renoir, released in 1931, adapted from the novel of the same name by Georges de La Fouchardière. An effete employee and amateur painter, married to a woman who hates him, Maurice Legrand falls madly in love with Lulu, whom he meets in Montmartre. Lulu is under the protection of Dédé, a small-time pimp whose livelihood she supports. Dédé encourages her to have a relationship with Legrand, who ends up supporting her. Dédé, always in need of money, starts selling Legrand's paintings, pretending they're by Lulu. Lulu takes advantage of Legrand's credulity and drives him to murder... We enclose a "sculptin" by Nicolas Alquin (greetings card for 1985, signed in pencil).
