"La Vie au grand air". Collection covering the years 1898 to - Lot 184
"La Vie au grand air". Collection covering the years 1898 to 1914 +1919 (lacking the 2nd half of 1913). Paris, Pierre Laffitte, 1898-1919, hundreds of issues in 17 vol. 4° (the year 1914 is not bound), blue half-percaline with corners (except for the years 1904, 1913 and 1919 bound in green percaline or leather) (traces of wetness on the edges and several covers of the bindings, 2 joins split, 1 spine damaged, interior very fresh). "La Vie au grand air" is a French illustrated sports magazine launched on April 1, 1898 under the direction of Pierre Lafitte, first published fortnightly, then weekly. Publication was interrupted on August 2, 1914 (issue no. 828), resumed on June 15, 1916 (issue no. 829) as a quarterly, and ceased definitively on April 15, 1922. Initially subtitled "Revue illustrée de tous les sports", this magazine was the brainchild of Bordeaux-based sports journalist Pierre Lafitte, a cycling enthusiast. The Olympic spirit promoted by Pierre de Coubertin animated the magazine, which featured athletes of all disciplines and origins on its covers. In 1900, Alexandre Natanson was appointed director, and in 1911, the title became simply "Vie au grand air". Rare and complete.
