Enriched with numerous intaglio plates. À Paris, chez Nyon, Ganeau, Quillau, 1716, 4°, XIV-298-[2] p., full brown basane, 5-nerved spine, gilt title and fillets (spine ends, nerves and edges rubbed, spotting and russeting, light wetness on upper and lower edges, some traces of use, plate 25 heavily browned). First edition illustrated with 35 plates (out of 37), including 18 fold-outs. Missing plates 29 and 30, this book relates Frézier's voyage from France around Cape Horn and his travels along the coasts of Chile and Peru, with descriptions of the main towns. Maps show important bays, ports and towns in Chile, Peru and Brazil. Of particular interest is the reduced map showing recent discoveries at the southern tip of South America. Frézier was the first Frenchman to draw an accurate map of the Strait of Magellan and Tierra del Fuego.
