MOUCHA (Miloslav). Ten studies on the Book Bereshit woodcut by Miloslav Moucha in Paris in 1992. Paris-Prague, Nova et Vetera, 1993, broadsheet, leaves, publisher's grey cloth folder with flaps. First edition printed in 80 numbered copies, signed by the artist (ex. no. 14). The French text was translated from Hebrew by André Chouraqui. All woodcuts are dated and signed in pencil. Fearing persecution, Miloslav Moucha (Litvínov, °1942) emigrated to France in 1968. There, he met other Czech artists and intellectuals, including writer Josef Kroutvor and filmmaker Stepan Benda. In Paris, he discovered avant-garde art with Ben Vautier, Claude Viallat, Serge Oldenbourg and others. Later, he befriended Pierre Restany and Gérard Barrière.
