FAURÉ (Gabriel). Autograph handwritten letter... - Lot 72 - Les ventes Damien Voglaire SRL
FAURÉ (Gabriel). Autograph handwritten letter to Albert Carré, director of the Opéra Comique de Paris (1920). 1 folio 4° of 2 pages on laid paper. Gabriel Fauré writes to Albert Carré: "(...) I am sorry I cannot attend the premiere of "Masques et Bergamasques", so deeply convinced am I that you have made this little work an exquisite spectacle! I was also telling you how delighted I am with the revival of "Penelope". If you don't mind, would you ask someone around you to send me the cast of "Masques" and "Pénélope"? It would give me great pleasure (...)". He says he has "received a very kind" letter from Fernand Masson, then regrets that he will no longer be in Monte Carlo when Albert Carré is: "Between us, life here is a little too hectic for a convalescent, and also - I must confess - I feel I must restrict myself, so I have decided to leave this Monte Carlo setting. Tomorrow evening, I'll be in Tamaris-sur-mer (Var) at the Grand Hôtel, the only one there (...)". He once again hopes that it will be there, in Tamaris, that he will receive news of the distribution of his works.
