BLOY (Léon). Le Mendiant ingrat (Diary of the author, 1892-1895). Brux, Deman, 1898, 8°, 451 p., brown half-chagrin with corners, 5-rib spine titled in gold, gilt head, cover and spine cons. bookplate (spine slightly faded and rubbed, traces of white wax on cover spines). First edition. Copy on tinted laid paper after 10 Japon and 30 Hollande, bearing the author's handwritten signature at the justification. Vignette on cover and title by Fernand Khnopff (A. et L. Fontainas et É. Van Balberghe, Publications de la Librairie Deman, 31). We enclose a second copy of the 1908 Mercure de France edition, also signed by the author (1 vol. 8°, cover creased, spine completely split). Reissue of the original edition of Léon Bloy's first and most famous diary volume. Published in 1898 by Deman in Brussels, this work was not as successful as expected, and the stock was sold to Mercure de France, who changed the covers and title page / Set of 2 vol.
