MOSTAPHA (Adane). - Lot 311
MOSTAPHA (Adane). Untitled (circa 1976). Enamel on copper, monogrammed on the upper left corner, mounted in an American box. Frame size: 46.5 x 56.5 cm; subject: 40.5 x 51 cm (fine loss of material). Sculptor, ceramist, painter and interior designer, Adane Mostapha (°1933) was one of the authors of the Manifeste Aouchem in 1967, which was originally supported by eight other artists, including Baya, Denis Martinez and Choukri Mesli. Considered one of the very first collective expressions by artists in the era of decolonization, this manifesto had an impact far beyond the borders of the young independent state. His monumental works include the frescoes adorning the Algiers airport concourse and that of the Hôtel El Djazaïr. Present in numerous private collections (Switzerland, France, Hungary, Japan...). Reserve price 400.
