MONTEYNE (Roland). - Lot 309
MONTEYNE (Roland). "Composition" (1986). Bronze sculpture, dated, just. 7/11 and signed on the back, mounted on a black stone base. Size of base and subject: 25.5 x 18 x 18 cm (slight traces of wear). Roland Monteyne (1932-1993) devoted himself to painting and studied oriental languages (Chinese and Tibetan) at the University of Louvain. He then worked with H. Minnebo in their joint aluchromy workshop, founded in 1965. A self-taught sculptor, he mainly creates works in chiselled and welded metal. His style is abstract, sometimes surreal, oscillating between the erotic and the religious, but always sensual. His works can be found in the museums of Kortrijk, Aalst, Bruges and Ostend.
