MOTHERWELL (Robert). - Lot 837
MOTHERWELL (Robert). Correspondence between Robert Motherwell, Odette Lazar-Vernet and Philippe Lepatre. Letters concerning Robert Motherwell's production of prints for Odette Lazar-Vernet, publisher of "Paroles Peintes", dated between 1967 and 1968 (various folds). In this correspondence, we discover that Motherwell had no qualms about asking others to retouch and even execute the plates from which his etchings were to be printed. The archive includes 1 card and 2 letters from Motherwell (1 handwritten and 1 typescript), all monogrammed or signed by the artist, on paper with the letterhead of his house at 173 East 94th Street, New York. Also includes 7 typescript letters from Odette Lazar-Vernet and one from Philippe Lepatre (Philippe Lazar, Odette Lazar-Vernet's husband). Rare and interesting correspondence on Motherwell's print production.
