BARRY (Orla). The Blue Volumes. Unpublished [L'Artiste], 199 - Lot 607
BARRY (Orla). The Blue Volumes. Unpublished [L'Artiste], 1992-1993, 6 vols. 4°, spiral-bound. First edition. "The Blue Volumes" is a journal project consisting of a series of publications of isolated texts that the artist describes as "written Polaroids". This complete series of 6 volumes contains small observations, describes feelings or encounters and plays on word repetitions or the rhythm of sounds. The work of Orla Barry (Wexford, Ireland, °1969) deals with language. She uses a variety of media, including video, text, sound and photographic installation. Her work evolves on the borderline between portraiture, monologue and short narrative, and follows the rhythm of Irish poetry and music. After living in Brussels for sixteen years, Barry returned to her native Wexford, a remote, rural coastal region, where she currently lives and works. Much of her work evokes the distancing felt by man - as a being of language - from nature (cfr https://smak.be/fr/artistes/orla-barry). A rare and fine copy.
