ADO CHALE - Reunion of 3 invitation cards for exhibitions of - Lot 555
ADO CHALE - Reunion of 3 invitation cards for exhibitions of jewelry, spheres and ovoids in hard stones and other creations by Ado Chale in his gallery on rue de Livourne in Brussels (1960s). Each card, on wove paper or gilded glossy paper, is embellished with a small original black-and-white photograph. Adolphe Pelsener, known as Ado Chale, was born in 1928 in Molenbeek, in the heart of Brussels. A true self-taught artist, he trained as a blacksmith and worked in an advertising sheet metal workshop. In his early years, he hammered silver and created jewelry, as well as his first cement table tops inlaid with small marcasites picked up at the foot of the cliffs in northern France. In 1962, he and his wife Huguette Schaal opened their first gallery in Brussels, on Rue de Livourne. It was at this time that Adolphe Pelsener became Ado Chale.
