RADIGUET (Raymond). - Lot 202
RADIGUET (Raymond). Vacation homework. Images by Irène Lagut. P., La Sirène, 1921, large 8°, full margins, glossy green paper covers. First edition printed in 198 numbered copies, this one not numbered. Collection of poems decorated with 3 full-page drawings by Irène Lagut. The preface is dated September 19, 1919. A pupil of Picasso, Irène Lagut, immortalized by Guillaume Apollinaire in "La Femme assise", painted mainly women's heads, children, harlequins and circus scenes; she also produced, in 1916, a very fine portrait of the wounded Apollinaire, in uniform, with a bandage around his head. She was also, rather briefly, Picasso's mistress. Barely 20 (she was born in 1893), she exhibited in Paris with Léopold Survage, and the catalog featured a double preface by Apollinaire. From 1920 onwards, she exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants. In addition to Radiguet, she illustrated Claire Goll's "Le Journal d'un cheval" and Valéry Larbaud's "Enfantines". She also designed the sets for Jean Cocteau's "Les Mariés de la Tour Eiffel", performed at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in 1921.
