Les Morts parlent. 7 woodcuts by Frans Masereel. [Ghent], Éditions des Tablettes, 1918, 4° plate, stapled. Second edition illustrated with 7 black woodcuts, captioned at the bottom. Frans Masereel published his first two series of woodcuts, "Debout les morts" and "Les Morts parlent", in 1917. This was a decisive period in the artist's life: it was the real starting point for his work. His publications of woodcuts followed in rapid succession, bringing him international renown. Rare. We enclose 2 woodcuts by Masereel, including a bookplate for Jean Tyssen.
