Les Pieds dans le plat. P., Editions du Sagittaire, 1933, in-12, 358 p., br. uncut (spine heavily browned). First edition. A second faux-titre is enclosed (page detached), this one with a mailing: "Bonjour Man Ray / en voici pas / mal à mettre / au régime / son ami / René Crevel". In this work, René Crevel returns to the form of the novel. It's a far cry from his earlier stories, which transposed the original trauma over and over again. The hero of his book, whom he calls the prince of journalists, is in fact a caricature of Léon Bailby, owner of the Paris daily "Le Jour". The author offers a harsh critique of the bourgeois values of the Third Republic.
