WARHOL (Andy).
"The Marilyn Diptych" (ca 1965). Offset lithograph printed on heavyweight coated paper. Plate published by Shorewood Publishers. Size: 57.5 x 72.5 cm. A rare item. The original work was completed in the weeks following Marilyn Monroe's death in August 1962. It contains fifty images of the actress, taken from a publicity photograph for the film Niagara (1953). The relationship between the left and right sides of the canvas seems to evoke the relationship between the life and death of the celebrity.
