TAMAYO.- PERET (Benjamin).
Mexican air. [4 original full-page color lithographs by] Rufino Tamayo. P., Librairie Arcanes, 1952, small 4°, in sheets, printed cover filled, uncut. First edition with a monochrome figure on each page. Limited edition of 270 copies. 1/229 vellum of Rives. One of the most beautiful books illustrated by Tamayo. Very beautiful literary and artistic synergy between Benjamin Péret who "tries to seize from the inside the history of a whole land and its people, its myths and beliefs" (1) and Tamayo, whom the writer admires, and who "draws his inspiration from the popular art of his country, transposes it and recreates it" (2), far from the folkloric clichés of the time. (1) J.-L. Bédouin (2) B. Péret Nice copy.
