[PROVEN/PERRIAND]. "Les Lits Jean Prouvé". 1 sheet 4° printed in black on tracing paper. Rare document of the Steph Simon editions. Attached is a second sheet from the Steph Simon design office, dated December 1965, listing the price list for Jean Prouvé's desks and beds, as well as additional accessories by Charlotte Perriand, Arne Jacobsen or Charles Eames (1 typed page with mss corrections). Also attached: 2 documents on the Pan-U, a Roger Legrand creation. "Pan-U is a form in wood mold serving for everything, according to the immediate needs and imagination (...)". First commercial agent of the French Aluminium, the engineer of Arts et Métiers Steph Simon (1902-1982) opens in 1956 a gallery at 145, boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris. A true precursor in the promotion of modern furniture, he created a design office for the conception of private and industrial fittings. Exclusive models by Jean Prouvé and Charlotte Perriand, who also designed the sales area, were presented there. The business lasted until 1974, when Steph Simon, then in his seventies, sold his gallery to a clientele that was too rare and elitist.
