EPSTEIN.- GEORGE (Waldemar). Epstein. P., Le Triangle, [1932], in-12 with all margins, br. with full cover illustrated with a vignette. First edition printed at 96 copies, 1/90 on Montval cream laid paper, including an original etching in black by Henri Epstein, justified and signed in pencil (fly plate on watermarked paper). Henri [Haïm] Epstein, was born in Lodz in Poland in 1891, and went to the Fine Arts school in Munich where he met the secessionist movement and the Jugendstil. After a first stay in Paris in 1910, Epstein moved there permanently and joined La Ruche, rubbing shoulders with many artists: Modigliani, Chagall, Kisling and Soutine. He then attended the academy of the Grande Chaumière. During the interwar period, the artist participated in numerous group exhibitions. He settled in Epernon in a farmhouse which became his creative space during the occupation. In March 1944, he was denounced and arrested by the Gestapo and deported to Auschwitz.
