First edition printed at 999 copies on vellum. 1/950 numbered in Arabic numerals. Deluxe edition decorated with 24 original engravings: 5 lithographs in colors by Victor Brauner, Max Ernst (Spies/Leppien, 24), Jacques Hérold, Wifredo Lam, Man Ray (not noted in the justification); 5 original etchings including 1 in colors by Hans Bellmer (Denoël, 16), Marcel Jean, Nicola de Maria, Yves Tanguy (Wittrock, 15A), Dorothée Tanning ; 2 original woodcuts by Hans Arp (Arntz, 120 and 121); 12 original black and white lithographs by Serge Brignoni, Calder, Bruno Capacci, Elisabeth Van Damme, Julio de Diego, Enrico Donati, David Hare, Jacqueline Lamba, Matta, Kay Sage, Yves Tanguy (Wittrock, 15B) and Toyen, as well as photographic reproductions. The etchings are by Lacourière, the woodcuts and lithographs by Mourlot (From Manet to Hockney, 115; A Century of Artist Books, pp. 71, 232, 244).
